Softball Game Preview: Heritage Patriots vs. Tahquitz Titans

The Heritage Patriots will face off against the Tahquitz Titans at 3:15 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses apiece.

Heritage came into this matchup off a tough ten-run defeat on Tuesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of JW North by a score of 11-9 on Thursday.

Kenya Ponce was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Natalia York, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Meanwhile, Tahquitz suffered their closest loss since March 18th on Friday. They fell just short of San Jacinto by a score of 8-6.

Lillian Phelps spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and six unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, Reyna Garcia made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Megan Brown, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

Heritage's defeat dropped their record down to 4-13. As for Tahquitz, their loss dropped their record down to 6-8.

Everything went Heritage's way against Tahquitz when the teams last played back in April of 2021, as Heritage made off with a 27-0 victory. Do the Patriots have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Titans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
