Basketball Game Preview: McClave Cardinals vs. Swink Lions

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Cardinals face off against the Lions at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. McClave is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.

On Saturday, McClave earned a 55-47 victory over Fowler.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead McClave to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tuff Kelley, who almost dropped a triple-double on 12 points, 20 rebounds, and nine blocks. Kelley has been hot for a while, having posted nine or more boards the last 12 times he's played. Jr. Mungaray was another key player, going 5 of 9 en route to 14 points and eight rebounds.

McClave smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards every time they've taken the court this season.

Meanwhile, Swink played a tough contest on Wednesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against Holly, falling 83-43. The Lions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

McClave's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-2. As for Swink, their loss dropped their record down to 4-11.

McClave was able to grind out a solid victory over Swink in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, winning 59-51. Will McClave repeat their success, or does Swink have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
