Basketball Recap: Melrose Takes a Loss

Melrose lost against Upsala back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Melrose Dutchmen were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 50-49 to the Upsala Cardinals. The Dutchmen have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Samantha Pilarski was her usual excellent self, putting up 17 points and eight rebounds for Upsala. The team also got some help courtesy of Zoey Leners, who posted six points and 13 boards.

Melrose's defeat dropped their record down to 9-16. As for Upsala, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 16-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Melrose will face off against Kimball at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Upsala, they will challenge Bertha-Hewitt at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Upsala is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.1 points per game this season.
