Preview: McGregor Mercuries vs. Cromwell Cardinals
McGregor is 0-10 against Cromwell since December of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The McGregor Mercuries will be playing in front of their home fans against the Cromwell Cardinals at 7:15 p.m.
Last Monday, McGregor ended up a good deal behind Hill City/Northland and lost 60-46. McGregor has not had much luck with Hill City/Northland recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Meanwhile, Cromwell entered their tilt with Barnum with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Cromwell blew past Barnum, posting a 89-36 win on the road.
Cromwell's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Isabella Anderson, who scored 24 points along with 6 rebounds and 4 steals. Anderson is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Jill Anderson, who scored 23 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 blocks.
Their wins bumped McGregor to 1-1 and Hill City/Northland to 2-1.
McGregor was taken down by Cromwell 59-11 in their previous meeting back in January. Can McGregor avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
