Baseball Recap: Baruch College Beats Roosevelt for Their Third Straight Win

Baruch College won against Community Health Academy on Friday with six runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Blue Devils Bearcats came out on top against Roosevelt by a score of 6-2. The victory was familiar territory for the Blue Devils Bearcats, who have now won three contests in a row.

Josh Gutner spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits and racked up 16 Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Baruch College let Nesha Jovic and Aidan Silberstein run wild. Jovic went 2-for-3 with five stolen bases, one run, and one RBI, while Silberstein got on base in three of his four plate appearances with five stolen bases and two runs. Jovic is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged two or more in each of the last four games he's played. Hudson Roberts was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Baruch College pushed their record up to 6-3 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Roosevelt, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season.

Baruch College will welcome School of the Future at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Roosevelt, they will head out to challenge Environmental at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Roosevelt are facing the Eagles at the right time seeing as the Eagles are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
