Basketball Recap: Jay Jay Davey's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Dixie over Crimson Cliffs

Dixie has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 52-47 heartbreaker at the hands of the Crimson Cliffs Mustangs. The Flyers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Mustangs earlier this season, when they won 67-66.

Dixie's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jay Jay Davey, who went 7 of 9 on his way to 14 points and seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Zed Webber, who posted nine points and three steals.

Crimson Cliffs got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Mckay Lindquist out in front who went 6 for 9 en route to 15 points in addition to seven boards and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Trevor Taylor, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 10 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks.

Dixie's defeat dropped their record down to 13-7. As for Crimson Cliffs, they pushed their record up to 13-6 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home.

Dixie will face off against Pine View at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Dixie is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.7 points per game this season. As for Crimson Cliffs, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 63-48 victory against Cedar on the 29th.
