Recap: Tucker County Mountain Lions vs. Gilmer County Titans
If the Tucker County Mountain Lions were feeling good off their 81-25 takedown of the Tygarts Valley Bulldogs last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Tucker County took a 50-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Titans. If Tucker County was looking for revenge after losing 51-49 to them when the teams met on Saturday, then they'll just have to keep looking.
When it comes to explaining why Tucker County lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ericka Zirk. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Zirk has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Raven Matthews, who scored six points along with 21 rebounds and two steals.
Tucker County's defeat dropped their record down to 10-4. As for Gilmer County, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 13-0.
Tucker County will head out on the road to take on the Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. East Hardy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps West Virginia Rankings (they are ranked 91st, while the Mountain Lions are ranked 34th). As for Gilmer County, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against the Raiders at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Roane County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Saturday.
