Basketball Game Preview: Highland Fighting Scots vs. River Valley Vikings

Highland is 1-9 against River Valley since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Highland Fighting Scots will host the River Valley Vikings at 7:15 p.m.

Highland is headed into Tuesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game on Thursday. They fell 51-43 to Galion.

Meanwhile, River Valley came tearing into Thursday's game with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25.2 points) and they left with even more momentum. They snuck past the Whippets with a 67-62 victory. 67 seems to be a good number for the Vikings as the team scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.

River Valley's win came from a few key players Highland will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Sawyer Weston, who went 8 for 15 on his way to 18 points and six assists. Chase Smith was another key player, putting up 15 points and eight rebounds.

River Valley pushed their record up to 14-2 with the victory, which was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.3 points per game. As for Highland, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-12.

Highland took a serious blow against River Valley in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, falling 76-39. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Highland was down 44-20.
