After low-scoring totals in their previous three match, Mater Dei brought some dynamite into their most recent contest. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Father McGivney Catholic Griffins on Saturday. With that win, the Knights brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Emma Diekemper made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Maddy Huels was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Rylie Rolves, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Mater Dei kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 5-2 when they post 11 or more hits.

Mater Dei's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-9-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Father McGivney Catholic, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-14.

Mater Dei and Father McGivney Catholic are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Knights will challenge Flora at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The Wolves will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last. As for Father McGivney Catholic, they will take on Dupo at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
