Softball Recap: Indian Hills Takes a Loss

Indian Hills had lost five straight at home, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 9-9 to make it six. They fell just short of the Ridgefield Park Scarlets by a score of 1-0. If the Braves were looking for revenge after losing 5-1 to the Scarlets when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Taylor Herrick spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on nine hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one walk in ten consecutive appearances.

As for Ridgefield Park, the victory (which was their 13th in a row) raised their record to 18-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games.

On Ridgefield Park's side, the result came thanks to Gabriella Rivera's shutout, as she gave up just four hits and racked up ten Ks.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Indian Hills will venture away from home to challenge Pascack Hills at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Ridgefield Park, they will head out to face off against Dumont at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
