Softball Game Preview: Hendrick Hudson Sailors vs. Harrison Huskies

The Hendrick Hudson Sailors will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Harrison Huskies at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.

Hendrick Hudson had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the nine-run drubbing they dealt Brewster on Wednesday. The Sailors never let the Bears get on the board and left with a 9-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Sailors in their matchups with the Bears: they've now won six in a row.

Harrison never got on the board in their matchup on Thursday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Edgemont on Monday. They blew past the Panthers 14-1. That looming 14-1 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Huskies yet this season.

Harrison's win was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-2. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Hendrick Hudson, their win bumped their record up to 2-0.

Hendrick Hudson couldn't quite finish off Harrison in their previous meeting back in April of 2023 and fell 3-1. Can the Sailors avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
