Baseball Recap: Athens Makes It Six in a Row on the Road

Athens had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They never let the Alexander Spartans get on the board and left with a 4-0 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 6-2 two weeks ago.

Athens pushed their record up to 13-2 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Alexander, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.

Looking ahead, Athens will challenge River Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Alexander, they will face off against Wellston at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Golden Rockets' pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so the Spartans' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
