Softball Preview: Burke Bulldogs vs. Buena Vista Bison

The Burke Bulldogs are on the road again on Tuesday to play the Buena Vista Bison at 5:00 p.m.

Burke will head into Monday's match ready to turn things around: they lost a close one when they played on Saturday but unfortunately for them the loss they were handed on Monday was a bit more commanding. They lost 17-1 to Skutt Catholic. The defeat continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the SkyHawks: they've now lost four in a row.

Meanwhile, Buena Vista got the win against Lincoln High on Monday by a conclusive 15-4. With that victory, the Bison brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.

Gwyn Revis was a major factor no matter where she played. She pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive pitching appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Buena Vista let Jaina Darrow and Drea Santana loose on the outfield. Darrow went 2-for-3 with four RBI and a double, while Santana scored two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Lexi Wallace, who scored two runs and stole a base.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Buena Vista always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .607. The last time their OBP was this high was back in August.

Burke's loss dropped their record down to 0-11. As for Buena Vista, their record is now 10-12.
