Basketball Recap: Wawasee Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Wawasee was the 41-40 winner over NorthWood when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The contest between the Wawasee Warriors and the NorthWood Panthers didn't end well, with the Wawasee Warriors falling 42-26.

When it comes to explaining why Wawasee lost on Saturday, don't look at Mackenzie Hackleman. Despite the final result, she posted 14 points and five rebounds.

Claire Payne continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for NorthWood, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 12 boards. Payne has been hot, having posted nine or more rebounds the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Haylee Heflin, who had ten points.

Wawasee's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-5. As for NorthWood, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-3.

Wawasee will host Columbia City at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for NorthWood, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the NorthWood Panthers take on the Bremen Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Bremen has won eight straight at home, while NorthWood won eight straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
