Volleyball Recap: Laughlin Comes Up Short

If Laughlin was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Beaver Dam on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Cougars fell just short of the Needles Mustangs by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. While the Cougars didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Mustangs 25-15 in the first set.

Laughlin started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 15-25, 23-25, 25-18, 27-25, 16-14.

Laughlin's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Laughlin will welcome Mohave Accelerated at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Needles, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Awaken Christian at 5:00 p.m. on September 4. The game will give the Mustangs their first taste of in-conference action this season.
