Baseball Game Preview: East Ridge Pioneers vs. Signal Mountain Eagles

East Ridge is 0-10 against Signal Mountain since March of 2021 but things could change on Monday. The East Ridge Pioneers will head out on the road to face off against the Signal Mountain Eagles at 6:00 p.m. Signal Mountain took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on East Ridge, who comes in off a win.

East Ridge had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 16-run drubbing they dealt Brainerd on Friday. Everything went East Ridge's way against Brainerd as East Ridge made off with an 18-2 victory.

Payton Johnson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Johnson was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing Four bases.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Dylan Owens, who scored four runs and stole Six bases. while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in runs. Another player making a difference was Jacob Davis, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when Signal Mountain duked it out with Ooltewah on Saturday. Signal Mountain fell just short of Ooltewah by a score of 6-4.

Brady Timblin made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Signal Mountain has also been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-4 record this season. East Ridge now has a winning record of 2-1.

East Ridge suffered a grim 15-0 defeat to Signal Mountain when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can East Ridge avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
