Softball Recap: Jemison Gets the Win

Jemison hadn't done well against Marbury recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Panthers had just enough and edged out the Bulldogs 6-5. For the Panthers, this counts as revenge for the 7-4 victory the Bulldogs walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2022.

Nesis Cruz was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and one run. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Abby Pate also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

The win made it two in a row for Jemison and bumps their season record up to 5-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 8 runs in those games. As for Marbury, they are on a 12-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-15.

Coming up, Marbury will take on Calera in a tournament on Saturday. Jemison will be paying especially close attention to the Bulldogs' contest: after the Bulldogs face off against the Eagles, they'll take on Jemison again at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday.
