Basketball Recap: Monday's Defeat Ends Kennedy's Winning Streak

If Kennedy was feeling good fresh off their 62-21 takedown of Mount St. Dominic Academy last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Kennedy Knights took a 53-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Plainfield Cardinals on Monday. The Knights' loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Despite the loss, Kennedy still got an impressive performance from Shay Shay Clancy, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten boards. Clancy's afternoon made it five games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zahniya Castillo, who posted 14 points.

Kennedy's defeat dropped their record down to 9-4. As for Plainfield, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 7-3.

Kennedy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 35-13 victory against Clifton on the 21st. As for Plainfield, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 68-43 win against Scotch Plains-Fanwood on the 21st.
