Basketball Recap: Berlin Brothersvalley Comes Up Short

Berlin Brothersvalley lost against North Star back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Berlin Brothersvalley Mountaineers took a blow against the North Star Cougars, falling 65-32. The match marked the Mountaineers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Despite the defeat, Berlin Brothersvalley saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Carson Janidlo went 6 for 9 on his way to 15 points.

Andy Retassie was his usual excellent self, going 8 of 13 on his way to 21 points in addition to eight assists and six rebounds for North Star. The contest was Retassie's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Toby Sheehan, who went 7 for 10 on his way to 14 points and five rebounds.

Berlin Brothersvalley has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. As for North Star, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-3.

Berlin Brothersvalley will square off against Chester Charter Scholars Academy at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for North Star, they will host Ligonier Valley at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. North Star is facing Ligonier Valley at the right time seeing as Ligonier Valley is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
