Softball Game Preview: Midlothian Trojans vs. Godwin Eagles

The Midlothian Trojans are taking a road trip to challenge the Godwin Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are still undefeated (Midlothian has 20 wins , while Godwin has 21 dating back to last season).

Midlothian is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Matoaca a 2-0 shutout. The Trojans' pitching crew has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a run in their last five matchups.

Not much got past Marlee Gaskell, who gave up just three hits and racked up eight Ks to keep Matoaca off the board. Gaskell has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Gianna Caranante was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Eagles on Tuesday. Godwin walked away with a 5-2 win over Franklin County.

Midlothian's victory was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 20-0. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Godwin, their record now sits at 21-0.
