Softball Game Preview: Rainier Columbians vs. Corbett Cardinals

For the second straight game, Rainier will face off against Corbett. The Columbians will be playing at home against the Cardinals at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

While Rainier's win against Corbett wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Columbians skirted past the Cardinals 9-8. The Columbians haven't had any issues with the Cardinals recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Destiny McKay was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two RBI. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high. Maddy Twichell was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three runs.

Rainier's win bumped their record up to 7-8. As for Corbett, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season.

Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Rainier has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .434. However, it's not like Corbett struggles in that department as they've averaged .485. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
