Basketball Recap: Irving Comes Up Short

Irving suffered their biggest loss since January 9th on Friday. They came up short against the Summit Academy Eagles, falling 47-21. The contest marked Irving's lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Summit Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alana Rivers, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 15 boards. What's more, Rivers also racked up four blocks, the most she's had since back in January. Another player making a difference was Amerie Santana, who went 8 of 17 en route to 19 points along with eight boards and three steals.

This is the second loss in a row for Irving and nudges their season record down to 4-2. As for Summit Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season.

Irving will head out to challenge Art & Design at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Summit Academy, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Manhattan Center for Science & Math at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.
