Softball Game Preview: Benjamin Russell Wildcats vs. Sylacauga Aggies

The Benjamin Russell Wildcats will face off against the Sylacauga Aggies at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Benjamin Russell will be strutting in after a win while Sylacauga will be coming in after a defeat.

Having struggled with four losses in a row, Benjamin Russell turned things around against Calera on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Eagles, sneaking past 9-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Wildcats have posted since February 18th.

The team relied heavily on Lydia Montgomery, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in February. Arionna Ware was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Sylacauga was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 5-2 to Central of Clay County.

Sylacauga saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sophie Harshberger, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Sylacauga's loss dropped their record down to 6-14. As for Benjamin Russell, their win bumped their record up to 7-11-1.

Benjamin Russell came up short against Sylacauga in their previous matchup back in March, falling 7-2. Can the Wildcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
