Softball Recap: Key West's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Key West entered their tilt with Mater Bay Academy on Friday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Rays a 12-0 shutout. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 20-5 last Wednesday.

Key West got a great performance from Brianna Brenner as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Brenner has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Alexa Condella was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that she hit this season. Tavyn Gage was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Key West's record is now 11-6. As for Mater Bay Academy, their loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-10.

Looking ahead, Key West will be playing in front of their home fans against Coral Shores at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Mater Bay Academy, they will square off against Academy for Innovative Education at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
