Wiregrass Ranch has gone a perfect 6-0 against River Ridge recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Bulls will look to defend their home field against the Royal Knights at 7:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Wiregrass Ranch barely beat Land O' Lakes the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Bulls claimed a resounding 33-0 victory over the Gators. The result was nothing new for the Bulls, who have now won four games by 21 points or more so far this season.
Wiregrass Ranch found their leader in sophomore Donte Parker, who picked up two sacks, made ten total tackles (4.0 for loss), and defended two passes.
Wiregrass Ranch's run defense was locked in: Land O' Lakes could only muster 1.8 yards per carry. The team can thank Chase Cobb for the heroic effort on defense: he. Wiregrass Ranch's ground attack was stronger, having averaged 4.9.
Wiregrass Ranch's defense didn't let the opposing QB, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for four sacks. Parker was especially locked on to Land O' Lakes' QB and sacked him twice. Wiregrass Ranch got some further help from Cobb: he picked up a sack and made 12 total tackles (2.0 for loss).
The home team had come away the winner the last five times River Ridge and Gulf had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Royal Knights came out on top against the Buccaneers by a score of 33-20 on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Royal Knights in their matchups with the Buccaneers: they've now won three in a row.
River Ridge's win came from a few key players Wiregrass Ranch will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jonah Clouse, who rushed for 91 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also picked up 64 receiving yards. Another player making a difference was Dareal King, who picked up 88 receiving yards and one TD.
Wiregrass Ranch's victory bumped their record up to 4-5. As for River Ridge, their win bumped their record up to 7-2.
