Basketball Game Preview: Hammond Morton Governors vs. Calumet New Tech Warriors

The Hammond Morton Governors will take on the Calumet New Tech Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hammond Morton is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.

Hammond Morton is headed into the contest having just suffered their closest loss since January 1st on Tuesday. They fell just short of Griffith by a score of 53-51.

Meanwhile, Calumet New Tech lost to Munster at home by a 66-48 margin on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 296th, while the Mustangs are ranked 130th).

Hammond Morton will need to focus on slowing down Eric Allen, one of several Calumet New Tech players who made an impact when they last played. He posted 11 points and three steals. Allen is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lawrence Wesby, who put up nine points and seven rebounds.

Hammond Morton's defeat dropped their record down to 6-14. As for Calumet New Tech, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-9.

Everything came up roses for Hammond Morton against Calumet New Tech in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, as the squad secured a 76-35 win. Will Hammond Morton repeat their success, or does Calumet New Tech have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
