Baseball Game Preview: Portage Central Mustangs vs. Buchanan Bucks

The Portage Central Mustangs will face off against the Buchanan Bucks at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.

On Monday, Portage Central came up short against Portage Northern and fell 10-7.

Brody Wallace was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Nolan Bloomquist, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Buchanan came out on top against New Buffalo on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run second inning. The Bucks walked away with a 6-2 win over the Bison. The Bucks haven't had any issues with the Bison recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Ari Johnson was excellent, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted over his last ten games. The team also got some help courtesy of Holden Carrington, who earned two runs and one stolen base.

Portage Central has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 15 of their last 18 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-19 record this season. As for Buchanan, their win bumped their record up to 7-17-1.

Portage Central came out on top in a nail-biter against Buchanan in their previous matchup back in April, sneaking past 7-5. Will the Mustangs repeat their success, or do the Bucks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
