Baseball Game Preview: Pana Panthers vs. Vandalia Vandals

For the second straight game, Pana will face off against Vandalia. The Panthers will challenge the Vandals at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Pana has three straight victories, Vandalia has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Pana barely beat Vandalia the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Panthers blew past the Vandals 11-2 on Monday.

Madyx Angel was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with six RBI, two stolen bases, and three doubles. Those six RBI gave him a new career-high. Easton Malisia was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Pana kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.9 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 10.2.

Pana's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-7. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games. As for Vandalia, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-11.

Pana's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's game. The Panthers have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.3 stolen bases per game.
