 Gilbert was not able to break out of their rough patch  on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight  defeat. They took  a  9-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Desert Vista Thunder. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Gilbert of the  6-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture  back in April of 2023.
 Gilbert saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Tanner Leyba, who  went 1-for-4 with a  home run and three  RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of  Matty Gonzales, who  scored two  runs and  stole a base while going 2-for-3.
 On Desert Vista's side,  Brock MacDonald looked comfortable as he  pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off   three  hits.
 At the plate,  Bode Thomas was  excellent,  scoring a  run while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was  Javier Colina, who  scored two  runs while going 2-for-3.
 Gilbert's defeat dropped their record down to 13-9. As for Desert Vista, the  victory was  the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-8.
 The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: they beat Gilbert by a score of  3-1.
