Softball Game Preview: Beardstown Tigers vs. Macomb Bombers

The Beardstown Tigers will square off against the Macomb Bombers at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Beardstown will be strutting in after a victory while Macomb will be coming in after a loss.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Tigers on Tuesday. Beardstown walked away with an 8-4 win over Greenfield/Northwestern. The victory continues a trend for Beardstown in their matchups with Greenfield/Northwestern: they've now won three in a row.

Khloe Kearns spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on six hits and racked up 12 Ks. Those hits were her first of the season.

On the hitting side, Bella Palmer was incredible, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Vanessa Nu?ez was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Macomb was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They lost 7-0 to Pittsfield.

Macomb's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Beardstown, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Beardstown has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Macomb struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7 strikeouts.
