Baseball Game Preview: Louis E. Dieruff Huskies vs. Emmaus Hornets

Louis E. Dieruff hasn't had much luck against Emmaus recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Huskies will welcome the Hornets at 4:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with three losses in a row, Louis E. Dieruff turned things around against Pocono Mountain West on Monday. They walked away with a 5-2 victory over the Panthers. The contest marked the Huskies' most dominant win of the season.

Jean Varela made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits (and only one walk). Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Frawvely Peralta, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and two doubles. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Julian Madison, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Emmaus made easy work of Muhlenberg on Sunday and carried off an 8-2 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Hornets.

Emmaus pushed their record up to 9-8 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Louis E. Dieruff, their win bumped their record up to 3-12.
