The Winfield Generals are taking a road trip to challenge the Lincoln County Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
Winfield managed to slip by Ripley the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Generals lost 13-3 to the Vikings on Friday. The matchup marked the Generals' lowest-scoring game so far this season.
Blake Withrow made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Preston Keiffer, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last contest, Lincoln County made sure to put some runs up on the board against Livonia on Friday. The Panthers walked away with a 10-6 win over the Bulldogs. Considering the Panthers' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
Bralin Peters was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Lincoln County is undefeated when he allows at most two earned runs, but 6-7 otherwise. Peters was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Hunter Chaffin, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Isaac Byrd also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
Lincoln County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .585. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Lincoln County's record is now 9-7. As for Winfield, their loss dropped their record down to 13-4.
Everything went Winfield's way against Lincoln County in their previous meeting back in March, as Winfield made off with a 16-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Generals since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
