Mid Valley is a perfect 3-0 against West Scranton since March of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Spartans will look to defend their home field against the Invaders at 1:00 p.m. Mid Valley is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last eight games.
On Friday, Mid Valley got the win against Lakeland by a conclusive 15-8. The Spartans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by six runs or more this season.

Ava Hazelton made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.
In other batting news, Mid Valley let Angela Laskowski and Avery Tinney run wild. Laskowski went 4-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles, while Tinney went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most RBI Tinney has posted since back in March of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Marley Morano, who went 3-for-4 with two runs.
Mid Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in seven consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, West Scranton lost 8-1 to Abington Heights on Friday. The Invaders haven't had much luck with the Comets recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.
West Scranton saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Laney Mackie, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.
West Scranton's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Mid Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 8-1.
West Scranton's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Mid Valley has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 12.2 hits per game. It's a different story for West Scranton, though, as they've been averaging 9.7 hits. Given Mid Valley's sizable advantage in that area, the Invaders will need to find a way to close that gap.
Mid Valley was able to grind out a solid win over West Scranton in their previous meeting back in March of 2025, winning 5-0. Do the Spartans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Invaders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
