Basketball Game Preview: Pleasant Grove Vikings vs. American Fork Cavemen

Pleasant Grove and American Fork are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2020, but not for long. The Pleasant Grove Vikings will welcome the American Fork Cavemen at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Last Friday, Pleasant Grove came up short against Lone Peak and fell 40-32. The loss continues a trend for the Vikings in their matchups with the Knights: they've now lost seven in a row.

Meanwhile, American Fork lost a heartbreaker to Lehi when they met back in January of 2024, and they left with a heavy heart again on Friday. American Fork fell 62-52 to Lehi. While losing is never fun, the Cavemen can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 72nd, while the Pioneers are ranked 18th).

Pleasant Grove's defeat dropped their record down to 6-8. As for American Fork, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-10 record this season.

Pleasant Grove beat American Fork 56-48 when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Does Pleasant Grove have another victory up their sleeve, or will American Fork turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
