Baseball Game Preview: Plumas Charter Warriors vs. Portola Tigers

The Plumas Charter Warriors will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Portola Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Plumas Charter will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.

Plumas Charter is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They never let Burney get on the board and left with an 18-0 victory on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won four games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Liam Carmichael was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four). He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Owen Joseph was a standout: he scored three runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-5. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Nate Patterson was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Plumas Charter hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Burney struck out 11 times.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Portola faced off against Maxwell on Wednesday. The Tigers took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Panthers. The Tigers haven't had much luck with the Panthers recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Plumas Charter's win bumped their record up to 5-7. As for Portola, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

Plumas Charter beat Portola 5-2 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Will the Warriors repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
