The Mount Si Wildcats will square off against the Arlington Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday.
Mount Si heads in on the heels of a playoff contest on Thursday. They fell 3-1 to Issaquah. The Wildcats have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite their defeat, Mount Si saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Cailyn Kadera, who had nine digs and two aces, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Miley Smith, who had 16 assists and five digs.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Arlington, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over Everett on Monday. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Seagulls recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.
The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Arlington who won the one that mattered. The match finished with set scores of 25-13, 20-25, 25-24, 20-25, 15-13.
Mount Si's loss dropped their record down to 12-8. As for Arlington, the win got them back to even at 9-9.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Saturday's match: Mount Si has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 8.8 aces per game. However, it's not like Arlington struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.4 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Mount Si came up short against Arlington in their previous meeting back in September of 2016, falling 2-0. Can the Wildcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
