Basketball Game Preview: Muncie Burris Owls vs. Cowan Blackhawks

The Muncie Burris Owls will venture away from home to square off against the Cowan Blackhawks at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with 15 consecutive losses dating back to last season for Muncie Burris and 12 for Cowan dating back to last season.

Last Friday, Muncie Burris took a blow against University, falling 81-30. While losing is never fun, the Owls can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 434th, while the Trailblazers are ranked 190th).

Meanwhile, Cowan had to suffer through a 65-25 loss at the hands of Yorktown.

Muncie Burris will need focus on slowing down Gentry Groves, one of several Cowan players who made an impact when they last played. He posted six points and seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Lucas Terrell, who scored seven points.

Cowan's loss dropped their record down to 0-11. As for Muncie Burris, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-9.

Muncie Burris might still be hurting after the 76-50 loss they got from Cowan in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. Can Muncie Burris avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
