Football Recap: Wasatch Wasps vs. Payson Lions
Wasatch extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping them down to 3-5. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 37-33 heartbreaker at the hands of the Payson Lions. The Wasps were up 19-0 in the second quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.
Loss or not, Wasatch got some senior leadership from Joseph Bradley and Ben Brand. Bradley rushed for 119 yards and one score on only 13 carries, while Brand rushed for 155 yards and one touchdown. Bradley's longest rush was for an impressive 55 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.
As for Payson, their victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 2-6. The win almost wasn't to be: they were down 19-0 in the second quarter.
Trevyn Wall continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 432 yards and four TDs, while also rushing for 53 yards and one touchdown. Those 53 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Carson Wall was in the mix as well, providing Payson with two scores.
Coming up, Wasatch will take on Maple Mountain at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Payson, they will challenge Orem at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Lions surely won't give up without a fight.
