Baseball Game Preview: Glenwood Titans vs. Springfield Senators

For the first time this season, Glenwood will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will head out on the road to square off against the Springfield Senators at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Glenwood had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 11-run drubbing they dealt Oak Forest on Saturday. Glenwood was the clear victor by a 12-1 margin over Oak Forest.

Andrew Wahlbrink looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits.

On the hitting side, Henry Rose was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Grady Mueller, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, Springfield came out on top against MacArthur on Tuesday by a score of 5-1 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game).

Caiden Bietsch tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Wade Snyder, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024. Alex Heyen also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Springfield hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as MacArthur struck out eight times.

Glenwood's record now sits at 2-0. As for Springfield, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Glenwood took their victory against Springfield when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 6-0. Does Glenwood have another victory up their sleeve, or will Springfield turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
