Softball Game Preview: Cleveland Heights Tigers vs. Garfield Heights Bulldogs

The Cleveland Heights Tigers will be taking part in a tournament against the Garfield Heights Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The timing isn't great for Cleveland Heights: they have been struggling with five straight losses at home, while Garfield Heights has snatched up three consecutive wins on the road.

Cleveland Heights fell victim to Medina and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They lost 21-0 to the Battling Bees. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Tigers' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

15 must be Garfield Heights' lucky number: they beat Bedford with that score not once but twice last Wednesday. The Bulldogs beat the Bearcats by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 15-14.

Garfield Heights has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 3-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Cleveland Heights, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-11.

Cleveland Heights took their victory against Garfield Heights in their previous meeting back in May of 2023 by a conclusive 20-9 score. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
