Softball Game Preview: Desert Mountain Wolves vs. Canyon del Oro Dorados

The Desert Mountain Wolves will challenge the Canyon del Oro Dorados at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Desert Mountain comes in on 26 and Canyon del Oro on 15.

Desert Mountain is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Canyon View a 1-0 shutout.

Not much got past Lilly 'Goose' Goodwin, who gave up just a hit and racked up 16 Ks to keep Canyon View off the board. Goodwin has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in 23 consecutive appearances.

Amelia Streuber spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up 13 Ks.

Desert Mountain's victory was their 26th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 29-1-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games. As for Canyon del Oro, their victory bumped their record up to 32-3.

Monday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Desert Mountain hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .383.
