Baseball Game Preview: Pathfinder RVT Pioneers vs. Putnam Vo-Tech Beavers

Pathfinder RVT and Putnam Vo-Tech are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2015, but likely not for long. The Pioneers will face off against the Beavers at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Pathfinder RVT has three straight wins, Putnam Vo-Tech has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Monday, Pathfinder RVT was able to grind out a solid victory over Palmer, taking the game 5-1.

Tim Russell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up 12 Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Brayden Mega, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases and one run. Mega is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Derek Rivera also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Putnam Vo-Tech's offense. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 13-0 to Sabis International, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.

Pathfinder RVT's win bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Putnam Vo-Tech, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.

Everything went Pathfinder RVT's way against Putnam Vo-Tech in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Pathfinder RVT made off with a 15-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pioneers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
