Basketball Recap: Trego Takes a Loss

After flying high against Plainville last Friday, Trego came back down to earth. The Trego Golden Eagles had to suffer through a 55-28 loss at the hands of the Thomas More Prep-Marian Monarchs. The Golden Eagles lost against the Monarchs in their previous head to head back in January of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 38-35 score last time.

Despite the defeat, Trego saw an underclassman step up: freshman Leah Day posted nine points. Day also posted a block, marking her first of the season.

Trego dropped their record down to 5-9 with the loss, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Thomas More Prep-Marian, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 8-6 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Trego will venture away from home to square off against Ellis at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Thomas More Prep-Marian, they are taking a road trip to take on Sacred Heart at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
