Foothill proved they can win big last Friday (they won by 41) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They pulled ahead with a 43-42 photo finish over the Coronado Cougars. The score was all tied up 14-14 at the break, but the Falcons were the better team in the second half.

Foothill's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Anthony Taylor, who rushed for 81 yards and a pair of TDs on only ten carries, and also picked up 97 receiving yards and one touchdown. The dominant performance also gave Taylor a new career-high in rushing touchdowns (two). Another signal caller making a difference was Ayden Waier, who threw for 224 yards and three touchdowns while completing 76.9% of his passes.

Coronado's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Layton Bachhuber, who picked up 141 receiving yards and a pair of scores. Jackson Humphries was another key player, throwing for 258 yards and four TDs.

Foothill is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 41.2 points over those games. As for Coronado, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-6.

Foothill has already played their next matchup, a 37-30 victory against Desert Oasis on the 17th. As for Coronado, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 14-7 win against Faith Lutheran on the 17th.
