Volleyball Game Preview: Simon Kenton Pioneers vs. North Oldham Mustangs

The Simon Kenton Pioneers will head out to face off against the North Oldham Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Simon Kenton is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Conner just ended the team's five-match winning streak on Tuesday. They fell 3-1 to the Cougars.

The final score came out to 25-18, 23-25, 25-12, 25-18.

Meanwhile, North Oldham faced Elizabethtown in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Mustangs walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Panthers. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Mustangs.

Simon Kenton better keep an eye on Ashlyn Thompson. She was instrumental in North Oldham's win, getting 11 digs and two assists.

North Oldham was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 11 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in six consecutive contests.

Simon Kenton's loss dropped their record down to 17-11. As for North Oldham, their record now sits at 16-11.

Simon Kenton suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to North Oldham in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Can the Pioneers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
