Soccer Game Preview: Calera vs. Montevallo

The Calera Eagles will take on the Montevallo Bulldogs at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Calera is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last six games.

While Calera's victory against Benjamin Russell wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Eagles never let the Wildcats get on the board and left with a 1-0 win on Tuesday. Given Calera's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama soccer rankings (they are ranked 34th, while Benjamin Russell are ranked 133rd) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Montevallo didn't have quite enough to beat Northside on Tuesday and fell 2-1. Montevallo have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

Montevallo now has a losing record of 6-7-2. As for Calera, their victory bumped their record up to 12-5-2.

Everything went Calera's way against Montevallo in their previous matchup back in March of 2025, as Calera made off with a 4-0 win. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
