Baseball Recap: Walkertown's Win Ends Six-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Walkertown's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 19-1 margin over the Lexington Yellowjackets.

David Olmedo and Aaron Hester were a major factor no matter where they played. On the mound, Olmedo pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Hester didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over four innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. At the plate, Olmedo scored two runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances, while Hester scored two runs while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Walkertown let Devin Blodgett and Dakota Larimore run wild. Blodgett scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Larimore scored three runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. That's the most runs Blodgett has posted since back in April of 2024. Owen Tidd was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-4.

Walkertown always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lexington only posted an OBP of .200.

Walkertown's win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-1.

Walkertown didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 20-1 victory against Parkland on the 3rd. As for Lexington, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 22-0 loss against Western Guilford on the 6th.
