Basketball Recap: Monticello Comes Up Short

Monticello was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 57-48 to the Liberty Indians. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Indians apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Monticello's loss dropped their record down to 2-14. As for Liberty, their win bumped their record up to 6-9.

Monticello and Liberty could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps New York Rankings. Monticello (ranked 730th) will meet Valley Central (ranked 230th) at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Liberty will square off against Beacon at 6:30 p.m. on Monday down 623 places (732 vs. 109).
