Softball Recap: Milan Comes Up Short

Milan fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Flat Rock on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Rams by a score of 16-15. The Big Reds were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Rams apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Milan has also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-6 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Flat Rock, they pushed their record up to 8-10 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Milan will take on Saline at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Big Reds' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Hornets have averaged an impressive 8.9 runs per game this season. As for Flat Rock, they will challenge Carlson at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
