Softball Recap: Burbank Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Johnson, Burbank was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 22-7 margin over the Florin Panthers. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Titans as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

ANDREA CERVANTES made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. CERVANTES was even better at the plate, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs and two stolen bases. Those four runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on VAITUOLO (SUKA) FINAU, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with four stolen bases, two triples, and five RBI. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of GABRIELA CHACON, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with five stolen bases, three runs, and one double.

Burbank always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .763. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Burbank picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 2-9. As for Florin, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-10.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Burbank will head out to square off against Foothill at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Mustangs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15.14 runs per game on average), something the Titans will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Florin, they are taking a road trip to challenge Johnson at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Panthers will need to watch out since the Warriors have now posted at least ten runs in their last three matchups.
